We believe that kicking ass is best done in pretty shoes. We’ve learned that real women sweat, and sweat hard. We know that assertiveness, strength, and ambition are the ultimate feminine qualities. We concede that sometimes it takes hours to get ready, but we’re also no strangers to just rolling out of bed and going. We’re convinced that we run faster in pink shoelaces. We believe in pushing ourselves, and we believe in giving ourselves a break, too. We’re all about the rush of endorphins and the thrill of the challenge. We’re all for looking great and feeling even better. We’re committed to finding our best fit, and making it stick.Sweat Pink with us.
I am so excited to announce that I'm now a Sweat Pink Ambassador! When I first read the mantra of Fit Approach and "Sweat Pink," I just KNEW it was something that I wanted to be a part of because it's very similar to the Lipgloss+Spandex motto of "run fast and look good." Fit Approach is an awesome online community for fitness-minded gals to support and inform each other--no matter what your fitness level is. They share workouts, recipes, inspiration, stories, fitness challenges, product reviews and giveaways! They're also on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. Definitely check them out and let me know what you think. <3

It's been a week since Ragnar, and I'm just now getting this posted. Honestly, when it comes to an event like a relay, it's hard to capture the essence of it, and even harder to describe ALL of it! So if you have any questions, feel free to ask :) The Trail Nuts have run the Hood to Coast Relay the past four years--it was our first relay, and until this year, the only relay that any of us had tried. After four years, we decided that it would be good to branch out and get a different relay experience. We asked around, and so many runners loved Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage that we decided to give it a try. Race name: Ragnar Relay Northwest Passage
Date and time: Friday July 18th through Saturday July 19th, 2014 Registration fee: $1320 per team Location: Blaine, WA to Langley, WA Events offered: 12 person team, 6 person ultra team, 12 person high school team Number of teams: approximately 600 Beneficiary: It Ain't Chemo; ALS Association Evergreen Chapter Team name: Trail Nuts (team #108) Team members: Van 1: Den, Tom, Juliet, Dave, Lilly, Mike Van 2: Chris (captain), John, Rene, Pat, Joy, ME! Team product sponsors: Zico Coconut Water, Onix Sports, and Trail Butter This was my first time EVER running the Fueled By Fine Wine Half Marathon!!! It was CRAZY hilly (more like hiking than running for me), but a BEAUTIFUL course. And the wine tasting afterwards was fantastic! Check out my race recap on the official Energy Events blog.
Also, I got to run as part of Elk Cove Vineyard's team, "The Herd," which was super fun to be a part of, and we had an awesome post-post-race BBQ and wine tasting out at the vineyard as well. Race name: Lacamas Lake Half Marathon & 5k Date and time: Sunday, July 27th, 2014 @7:30 Events and cost: Half Marathon run/walk $55-75 5k run/walk $35-55 Kids Dash $8-10 Location: 4th & Cedar, Downtown Camas, WA. Course maps available here. Number of runners (capped?): Beneficiaries: Camas High School, Girls On the Run, Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training (TNT) and the American Cancer Society. Swag: Tech t-shirt (gender specific), finishers medal, one free beer from Mill City Brew Werks, bag check The course will have a hill at the start and then it’s flat running to the lake. The moderately challenging course picks up with the old course in that you’ll do a full loop around Lacamas Lake. This route eliminates two of the major hills from prior years and then provides for a very fast finish as you’ll run down Dallas drive into downtown Camas with a finish right in front of Liberty Theater. I haven't run this race since 2011 (way back before this event had beer!), and I'm excited for all of the changes! The event t-shirt and matching medal and Mill City Brew Werks beer are definitely good reasons to take on this somewhat challenging course. Fortunately this year, they've changed it so that you get the brutal hill out of the way early (if you've been to any of the Mill Ciity Brew Werks Pub Runs with Fit Right, you know what hill I'm talking about!!!). The trail around Lacamas Lake is one of my absolute favorite places to run, so I'm really looking forward to this event. If you haven't registered yet, you have until 5pm today to register online! Otherwise, stop by packet pickup to get signed up:

After running Hood to Coast the past four years, my team (the Trail Nuts)decided it was time to try something new: Ragnar Northwest Passage! Trail Nuts Van 2 just finished our first set of legs (7-12)! We're 1/3 of the way finished with our 200 mile journey. Although it was a little warm, we're still having a good time. We're already talking about our plans for NEXT year's relay... We're on track pace wise, and in good spirits (even though John got stung by a bee), but it's still early on. We aren't sleep deprived yet. My hardest legs are yet to come! Next up for me: 8.7 miles at midnight. Probably pitch black for most of it. And hilly. Not my favorite conditions. A girl should be two things: who and what she wants. --Coco Chanel I know this video has been going around on the internet for a few days, but I just finally got around to watching this #likeagirl video from Always. First, when the young women and young boy are asked to demonstrate various activities "like a girl," I was a little sad and pretty frustrated seeing their responses. I wasn't mad at them though--really, if I were in the same situation, I don't know that I wouldn't end up doing the same thing, which would be to act out doing things "like a girl" in an inferior and somewhat pathetic way--because they probably thought that's what they were expected to do, probably subconsciously, even if they didn't really feel like that's what "like a girl" should mean or that it's what it means to them. I was so happy and relieved that the young girls didn't think that "like a girl" meant the same thing as what the others thought it meant. When I first started coming up with the idea for this blog about five years ago, I thought, who is going to read this? Are serious athletes going to read my blog, or are they going to treat it like a joke because I like looking pretty? Are real makeup fanatics going to read my blog, or are they going to dismiss it because I also like to work out? While makeup and fitness were compatible in my own life, it didn't seem like it was a commonly accepted thing in our society. In the end, I decided that I really didn't care if anyone read my blog. I knew that I'm a real person, who is seriously interested in being fit and living a healthy lifestyle, and who is also earnestly fascinated by makeup products and techniques. And if there's only one other person like that in the whole world, well, hopefully they like my blog!
