I was recently offered the opportunity to try out a few products from Markastore.com, a website that offers Romanian skincare products. I've never tried Romanian skincare, and to be honest, was a bit nervous. However, I think I may have a new favorite lotion...
$24.99 for 8.5 fl oz
Intensely moisturizing, compensates the shortcomings of lipids, soothes and restores comfort and suppleness. Protects against the daily stress factors. Skin appearance becomes visibly better, firmer and more elastic. Pell Amar Extract- natural source of energy for the skin - helps mentain skin functions under various daily stressors. Visibly improves skin appearance, acquires firmness and elasticity.
Enhanced with a mixture of oils, shea butter and vitamin E (tocoferyl acetate) to:
-hydrate dry and irritated skin;
-revitalize tired and dry skin;
-help skin regeneration;
-stimulate and activate microcirculation.
I love putting this on after a shower. The texture of the product is similar to other body creams in squeeze tube (like Bath & Body Works), but I like the formula of Pell Amar better. I feel like it absorbs just a bit better, moisturizes a bit longer, feels a smidge richer. I am also obsessed with the scent. It's has a soft, light, creamy citrus scent, a little reminiscent of a creamsicle, without being overly sweet or cloying. It smells fantastic. I'm seriously in love with this stuff--the product itself is maybe a Holy Grail, five star product for me. The major downside is the price, especially when you add on shipping. *sad trombone* It's kind of a deal breaker... However, if you ever spot it on sale, and with cheap shipping, grab it while you can!!!
A matte red-orange lip is bold, sexy and unapologetic. And Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Riviera definitely fits the bill!
$28.00 for 0.10 oz.
A richly pigmented, silky smooth and velvety matte lip color that delivers up to 14 hours of continuous wear without flaking or dryness. For optimal staying power, clean lips of other oils and balms. Allow to set for 30 seconds to one minute.
Product description (color/dupes):
I tested this liquid lip color in Riviera for We Heart This
. Riviera is described as "tangerine" by Hourglass. It definitely has orange in it, but it has a lot of red in it as well. I think it leans more red than orange, but every time I look at it, I change my mind! In any case, it's definitely bright, and very bold.
This formula is INCREDIBLY pigmented. A little product goes a loooong way. One coat will deliver fully opaque coverage.Texture:
It's initially smooth and feels like a very thin layer on your lips, unlike some longwearing liquid lipsticks, which feel thick and sticky.Application:
The little doe foot applicator makes application a breeze, but make sure you use a mirror!Length of Wear:
I manage to get about half of a workday in before it starts to wear off (about 4 hours). Reapplying makes it a clumpy chunky mess. It's gross. You'll have to completely remove this (I needed makeup removing wipes) and then apply it again. And be careful not to apply too much product because I felt that it shortened the length of wear even more.Packaging:
Sleek and pretty.Value:
Almost thirty bucks for 0.10 oz is a bit high especially given the issues with longevity and reapplication.
Overall, I love love love the color and how it feels at first
. The length of wear is okay (for me anyway) and the price is a little high. The major issue is how AWFUL it looks when you try to reapply product
, becaue you have to remove it completely with a makeup wipe or get chunky red bits. I want to love this, and I want to use it so badly... I'll probably work around its flaws, but I won't repurchase it.Lipgloss+Spandex rating:

I have fine lines on my forehead and near the edges of my mouth, which kind of bum me out. It did moisturize my skin, but I only saw slight improvement in my "wrinkles". I am only 27, so maybe this would be better on more mature skin (maybe I'll have my mom try it!). However, I still really liked this product. It has a faint lotion-like scent, and although I don't like scented skincare, this was not strong, nor was it irritating. The white cream is thin for a cream, more like a lotion in texture. It absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. I actually wore this during the day, with powder foundation, and was surprised that my skin didn't look shiny! No breakouts either! The packaging is interesting and fun, but seems to clog up a bit more than regular pumps. It is fairly expensive, at $65.00 for one ounce.

Whip Hand Cosmetics Set the Stage Makeup Primer
$39.00 for 1.0 oz
Set The Stage Makeup Primer fills, smooths and re-texturizes the skin in preparation for applying foundation. This unscented, ultra light-weight (but professional-strength) face primer goes on silky smooth before transforming into a light, matte micro-powder that provides exceptional binding properties beneath a wide-range of foundations, including cremes, powders and high-definition foundations.
Like all of Whip Hand Cosmetics' makeup, skin care and cosmetics products, a little bit goes a long way. Just a smidgen of Set The Stagewill be enough to prime an entire face. That means more power in a smaller package (and less junk in your kit or makeup bag.)
Perfect for a wide-range of skin types, including oily and sensitive skin.
While this product has only four ingredients (Cyclopentasiloxane, C30-45 Alkyl Cetearyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, HDI/Trimethylol Hexyllactone Crosspolymer, Silica), I know that all of the "cones" are going to scare off many people! I normally wouldn't buy a product with so many cones (they tend to turn my face into an oil slick), but Whip Hand claimed that this is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin, and if you're thinking of buying it, be reassured by their great return/refund policy
.Product description (color/dupes):
This is a sheer primer that initially seems similar to other sheer cone-based primers (like Smashbox) but this is thicker, and a little goes a LONG way! A pea sized amount is probably enough to cover your whole face. You'll notice right away that your skin appears smoother--the appearance of fine lines and pores are noticeably diminished.Pigmentation:
This is colorless and does not tint skin.Texture:
It has the typical thick silicone gel feel to it initially, and then sets nicely on skin.Application:
Dab a TINY bit on each area of your face (forehead, cheeks, nose, chin) and then blend thoroughly. Add more if needed, but use the least amount possible. Applying foundation over this primer is a dream because you've primed your face and it's so smooth!Length of Wear:
Unfortunately, this seems to oxidize my MAC foundation about half way through the day (about four hours). The pores on my nose also become obvious--my MAC foundation and this primer don't play nice!Packaging:
A simple tub with a screw top lid.Value:
It's priced similarly to higher end primers such as Smashbox, but I think that the Whip Hand primer will last longer because less product is needed.Love it or leave it?
I want to love it, but it didn't work with my MAC foundation. But I'm not convinced it's a bad product.
Please note: Whip Hand does not
suggest that you use this product on your eyes!Lipgloss+Spandex rating:

L to R: Scarlet Letter, Newberry St., P-Town Pink, Go Sox!, Bean Towne
L to R: Scarlet Letter, Newberry St., Go Sox!, Bean Towne, P-Town Pink
Product description: Scarlet Letter is a reddish-orange with a bit of coral shimmer. Newberry St. is a very sheer plum. P-Town Pink is a shimmery fuschia. Go Sox! is a cool blue based sheer red. Bean Towne is a shimmery copper/taupe. All of the glosses have a nice spearmint scent.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation varies, as you can see in the swatches. Also, they can be sheered out or built up for more color.
Texture: These are nice and smooth, but not sticky. They have a nice bit of thickness/viscosity to them though.
Application: Easy to apply, with the doe foot applicator.
Length of Wear: Decent length of wear. My lips felt great and moisturized while the product was on, but as soon as it wore off, my lips felt more dry than they had prior to application. As long as you keep some product on your lips by reapplying regularly, it's not a problem.
Packaging: Simple but I appreciate that it's not bulky.
Value: You get a decent amount of product for the price. The minis are actually a better value than the full sized ones!
Love it or leave it? Love them... but wish my lips weren't so dry when the product completely wore off!

Available in four shades
This travel-friendly pot combines steps three and four of the Flawless Face into one convenient package for touch-ups. The compact product, available in four shades, features Secret Camouflage in the left pan, Secret Concealer in the right pan and Translucent Loose Setting Powder in the bottom compartment. It’s the perfect size to pack in a travel makeup case or keep in your bag for touchups.
Left side: no concealer; Right side: Laura Mercier Undercover (single application)
Left side: no concealer; Right side: Laura Mercier Undercover (single application)
Laura Mercier Undercover Pot (both eyes, double application), after a full day at work, and then a workout at the gym!
Product description (color/dupes): I tested this in UC-3, which seems to be a decent match for my medium, NC30ish skintone. The Secret Camouflage is a yellow-based cream product. The Secret Concealer is a peach-based cream product.
Pigmentation: I had expected this to be more pigmented and really cover up my dark circles, but it was medium pigmentation/coverage.
Texture: The Secret Camouflage is on the dryer side for a cream product, while the Secret Concealer is very creamy. The powder is finely milled.
Application: Thin layers work best, otherwise you'll get some creasing. I found that applying thin layers of all three products, and then reapplying a second set of thin layers covered up my dark circles the best.
Length of Wear: If you do thin layers, it'll look great all day. Be careful with the concealer--it's very creamy, and if you apply too much, you'll get creasing within a few hours.
Packaging: It feels a little bulky, but considering you have two cream products and a loose powder, it's not bad. The packaging works well, with a fliptop lid for the top compartment, and the bottom screws off. Also, when you have multiple products, it drives me crazy when one runs out way before the others.... I'm not sure if that will be the case here, but just something to consider!
Value: The pricepoint is a bit high for me, but you're basically getting three products in one, instead of having to buy three separate products. I've found myself using this more often than my other concealers lately, so I think it actually could be worth it.
Love it or leave it? (who would like/not like? Major points?) While I think these products work well together, if you're particular about your concealer/eye products, you might be better off buying individual products. I'd recommend this for medium dark under eye circles, and for those willing to put a bit more time into applying concealer.
