Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Riviera

$28.00 for 0.10 oz.
A richly pigmented, silky smooth and velvety matte lip color that delivers up to 14 hours of continuous wear without flaking or dryness. For optimal staying power, clean lips of other oils and balms. Allow to set for 30 seconds to one minute.
Product description (color/dupes): I tested this liquid lip color in Riviera for We Heart This. Riviera is described as "tangerine" by Hourglass. It definitely has orange in it, but it has a lot of red in it as well. I think it leans more red than orange, but every time I look at it, I change my mind! In any case, it's definitely bright, and very bold.

Pigmentation:
This formula is INCREDIBLY pigmented. A little product goes a loooong way. One coat will deliver fully opaque coverage.

Texture: It's initially smooth and feels like a very thin layer on your lips, unlike some longwearing liquid lipsticks, which feel thick and sticky.

Application: The little doe foot applicator makes application a breeze, but make sure you use a mirror!

Length of Wear: I manage to get about half of a workday in before it starts to wear off (about 4 hours). Reapplying makes it a clumpy chunky mess. It's gross. You'll have to completely remove this (I needed makeup removing wipes) and then apply it again. And be careful not to apply too much product because I felt that it shortened the length of wear even more.

Packaging: Sleek and pretty.

Value: Almost thirty bucks for 0.10 oz is a bit high especially given the issues with longevity and reapplication.

Overall, I love love love the color and how it feels at first. The length of wear is okay (for me anyway) and the price is a little high. The major issue is how AWFUL it looks when you try to reapply product, becaue you have to remove it completely with a makeup wipe or get chunky red bits. I want to love this, and I want to use it so badly... I'll probably work around its flaws, but I won't repurchase it.

You are so much more ballsy than me when it comes to lip color! I pretty much just use gloss, sometimes with sparkle. I love this color with your skin tone.

haha, kendahl, it's mostly for the blog. I very rarely wear bright lipcolor. I like glosses that have a decent tint/shimmer to them, but not usually really bold stuff. It's one of those things that the more you try it, the braver you feel :P

You DO have the BEST face to pull off vivid colors! I truly appreciate your honest review of this, as I've been collecting Hourglass Cosmetics and staring at this as a possible next purchase. I don't like the fact that you have to completely remove before reapplying. Love your candor!
