Umotivated to run...

Well ladies and gents. It's been about a month since my first marathon (and since my last post... oops!). What's happened since then?

  • I got a tattoo! It's 26.2 in Roman numerals and I love it. It's like a code. First you have to figure out what all those X's, the V, and the I's mean, and THEN you have to figure out what 26.2 means. (Okay, I'm a dork). It hurt a lot, but I didn't cry or anything. I had to tough it out because I went to my brother's tattoo artist, and my brother would never let me live it down if I acted like a wuss.
Picture
Took this right after I got the tattoo... it looks crooked because I'm not standing straight.

  • The number of post-marathon workouts could be counted on two hands. For a week, I was really excited and motivated to do another marathon, but it wore off. There's just so much training involved. And right now, I'm trying to find a second job so I can pay off more of my student loans :(

  • A good friend and one of my relatives have had skin cancer. It's been removed, but it's scary. WEAR SUNSCREEN!

How are you guys doing with working out over the summer?

Love the tat! I want another one but just haven't committed yet.
My summer working out has been pretty good even with the insane temps we have been having. My water intake is through the roof.

Your tattoo is very awesome!!!
And I have barely worked out at all this summer! I've been back and forth between this town (college & work) and my home town (family & boyfriend) so much that I havent been able to establish a routine. I feel soooo guilty!! lol. Once it starts cooling down I fully intend on getting back to it. The temps here have been in the range of 94-100, and humidity through the roof. Even at 10 am its insanely hot!

Thanks, Destination:Athlete! I might get another tattoo if/when I complete an ultramarathon (probably a 50K).

Way to go, Laura! I'm impressed that you're keeping up with your workouts. I've definitely been drinking more water too.

Thanks, Ashley! I feel ya--the heat definitely makes it tough to work out, and humidity makes it even worse.

Thanks for stopping by ladies! I've added you all to my reader :)

My tattoo inspiration was this:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_b4kPTg3towE/S4hec-DvLrI/AAAAAAAAHeo/876ABH1pLmY/s1600-h/26712_333023309640_753644640_3292447_7054558_n.jpg

I made it smaller and in a different font to fit on my body better.

Awesome tattoo, I know when I complete a marathon I'm going to have to figure out some way to mark it in ink.

Scrolled down and had to comment on this as well, AWESOME! My sister got a rose with a 26.2 on it after completing Portland in 2009 in basically the same spot.

Thanks Allie, kilax, and KWoloszyn. :) It's a very sensitive area to get tattooed, but it was totally worth it.
