fresh Sugar Kisses Mini Lip Duo
$22.50 for 0.15 oz (full size)
Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 blends reparative oils and waxes with real sugar, a natural humectant, for delectable and dependable moisture. Sweet and tart black currant oil, rich in plumping essential fatty acids, cushions the lips while antioxidant grapeseed polyphenols and vitamins A, C, and E provide protection from wrinkle-causing free radicals. It also provides essential, year-round protection from damaging UV rays. This lip-loving essential has a bright, citrus scent and is free of petroleum, mineral oil, and lanolin.
Last October, I could hardly wait for my FREE SEPHORA BEAUTY INSIDER BIRTHDAY GIFT, because it was a mini lip duo of the cult fave, fresh Sugar Kisses balm. After testing it, I wasn't so excited, and couldn't imagine why this balm is mentioned in magazines all the time!
Sugar is clear, and Sugar Rose is a slightly red tinted balm. Both are have a nice glossy sheen to them. The scent of these is only okay (a hint of rose). While the texture is smooth, it does not moisturize very well, and the stick of balm seems fragile in the tube (which you have to unscrew). The metal casing definitely feels nicer and more substantial than your typical lip balm packaging, , and the SPF is a definite bonus, but it still isn't enough to justify the price tag. It's not a BAD product, but given the price tag and all of the favorable press it gets, I expected this to be near Holy Grail material. But even though it was free, I've hardly used it.
