So wayyyy back in April, I was invited to a BurnCycle class just for bloggers. What is Burncycle? It's an 45 minute long, intense total body workout on bikes. It's like spin class on steroids. Times a thousand.
So this Burncycle for bloggers event was the day before my 18 miles (5 + Capital City Half in Salem) and it didn't seem like a good idea to do a crazy spin class the day before my longest run, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to try something new!!! For free!!! With other bloggers!!! And there were going to be mimosas afterwards!!! So when I showed up, I didn't know anyone. The gals working at BurnCycle were super friendly, and the interior of the studio was modern yet homey and inviting. But once you get into the main workout room, it gets crazy. The lights are kept low, the music is intense and loud, and there's an awesome energy and intensity. I'm awfully uncoordinated and can never seem to pedal to the beat, but fortunately the dark room hid my sad attempts at rhythm. The instructor was awesome, yelling encouragement at all of us and pushing us to work just a little harder. The workout was still awesome and intense, leaving you feeling spent but energized at the same time. AHHHH! Sorry readers, I know it's taken me awhile to get this review up! Things have been super crazy in Lipgloss-land lately. BIG NEWS: I'm buying a condo! AHHHHHH!!! Between that and marathon training I've hardly had time for anything else. But I haven't forgotten about you guys! So here it is--the April BeautyBox5! Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription service that delivers five beauty or skincare samples to your doorstep for only $12 a month (and the shipping is free)! Ordering recurring boxes gives you an even greater discount. BH Cosmetics California Collection Eyeshadow Palette Full sized: $18.95 for a palette (see website) BB5: deluxe sample When I opened my April BB5, these were my immediate favorite. However, after trying them out, I wasn't in love with them. These shadows were a little powdery and didn't quite go together perfectly (you can make them work though). The lasting power was slightly below average. They're just okay. Bonne Bell Lip Liner in Warm Brick Full sized: $3.95 BB5: full-sized ($3.95 value) Oh Bonne Bell... you were my favorite company ever when I first forayed into makeup in my teens! I was surprised to see a Bonne Bell lip pencil in my BB5! This tugged a little, but less than I had expected for a lip pencil at this price point. Also, "Warm Brick" is totally a (nearly) universally flattering shade! Nicka K New York Hydro Lipstick in Daring Full sized: $4.99 for 0.12 oz BB5: full-sized ($4.99 value) This has a slightly fruity scent. I received Daring, a bright, true red shade, which is so classic and gorgeous and intense. It's a good formula, not drying. And the packaging is nice looking. Jergens Natural Glow – 3 Days To Glow Moisturizer Full sized: $9.99 for 4 oz BB5: 3 day sample I've used Jergens in the past--it's good stuff and very affordable. The scent is not bad (has a little bit of that self-tanner scent to it but it's partially masked), and the color looks like an actual tan, not orange. Blum Naturals All Purpose Cleansing Wipes Full sized: $2.49 for 30 wipes BB5: 30 wipes This was by far the most practical item in the April BB5 (theoretically)! The fresh scent isn't overpowering, and it fits conveniently in my glove box for when I need it. The wipes are a little delicate and sometimes rip when I'm trying to pull them out of the mini tub though. Overall, the April 2014 Beauty Box was a decent value value. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything I was just wild about, but all in all some practical and classic items.

WHERE: Pioneer Square, 701 SW 6th Avenue, Portland, OR 97204 WHEN: Sunday, May 18th from 12pm-4pm We’re thrilled to share that this March, Laura Mercier will launch 13 new bright and bold Lip Glacé shades. Our Lip Glacé is famous in the beauty industry (not to mention a fan favorite) for its non-sticky formula that glides on evenly while creating the appearance of fuller lips. Laura Mercier Lip Glacé$25.00 for 0.159 oz 13 New Shades. 26 Shades Total. A high-shine, perfectly pigmented lip gloss with rich, long-lasting colour and brilliant shine that creates the appearance of fuller lips. Any skin tone is virtually enhanced by creating a subtle contrast in texture. While this isn't a strictly seasonal or limited edition launch, I'm SUPER EXCITED that Laura Mercier is doubling the number of shades available for their Lip Glace! I love that these smell like vanilla, more so than previous ones I've tried. Cosmic is a clear gloss with shimmer, Garnet is a brick red in the tube, but looks different on your lips depending on how much you apply! They're both really great shades to have in your makeup stash. I was actually surprised by how much I loved Garnet--it's a really good basic shade, a nice but not too bold step up from "my lips but better." Both shades have a lovely glossy shine to them. While they are a little bit more expensive at $25 a pop, these are good quality lipglosses that hydrate a little, aren't too sticky, aren't too thin, don't smell too strong, and have nice substantial packaging. As with previous Lip Glaces, these come with a standard doe foot applicator.
