I've always loved going to farmer's markets, but mostly for the tasty food, people watching, and the honey sticks. But I never understood how people got excited about VEGETABLES. And I like vegetables! But when I was a kid, I thought a cookie or a Barbie was something worth getting excited about. Or when I was a teen, a lipgloss or a movie ticket. So while I liked eating all sorts of veggies, it wasn't something I got worked up about. Buying and caring for plants was another seemingly boring thing adults did.
But I guess I'm a grown up now. I went to the farmer's market after a morning run with some buddies, and got all excited.
"OH MY GOSH LOOK AT THOSE BEAUTIFUL ZUCCHINI! I LOVE ZUCCHINI! AND I NEED SOME BEETS! AND LOOK HOW CUTE THOSE LITTLE POTATOES ARE! THE COLOR OF THAT LILY IS AMAZING! THAT GUY IS MAKING THE BIGGEST BATCH OF PAELLA I'VE EVER SEEN!!! HAVE YOU SMELLED THIS SOAP?!"

All of the homemade baked goods were too delicious-looking to resist. A friend and I split a loaf of feta pull bread and it was so good. I also bought some more soap from my favorite local soap place, Farm Maid Soap. They're based in Corbett, Oregon, and I'm kind of obsessed with their Mojito soap. And my fiance is obsessed with their Anise soap. Which means we buy a lot of soap from them. I really need to learn to make hot or cold process soap myself! (The lye part scares me though!)
All in all, it's been a good morning so far. :) Do you enjoy your local market too?
