Join us for a group run like no other this year! On August 14th come and walk the red carpet, enjoy local food and drinks, kick back with some popcorn and enjoy a short movie premier featuring the launch of the New Balance 880v4 shoe. We will head out for a short group run at 6pm with 880 demo shoes available then come back to socialize, eat, drink and watch the magic happen. Plus, no premier event would be complete without a raffle for some free swag! Hope to see you there! Come dressed to run (3 easy miles).
I'm a sucker for the words "free" and "group run" and "catered snacks" and "beer" and "swag" and "shop local" and "raffle," especially when they're all used together to describe one event!!! Yesterday, Fit Right NW had a release party for the New Balance 880v4 at their Vancouver store, which is awesome because usually these types of events are held at the Fit Right NW Portland store (YAY for events in the Couv and NOT having to deal with P-town traffic!!!) Also, I love New Balance and have gone through several pairs of the 870v2's and 870v3's, and needed to get in a run anyway!
So, I arrived with Ardara and Ron at Fit Right around 5:30 and there was a red carpet and velvet rope, and NB backdrops, and a DJ playing music as you walk in! Ardara and I totally took advantage of the sweet photo op. Around 6:00 they played a video from New Balance discussing the new 880v4 shoe model... It did have some cool info, such as the fact that the 880v4 is only being released in running specialty stores--you won't see it in big box stores or online discount retailers. I think it's really cool that New Balance is supporting local running stores by doing this. The video was kind of long though, and we all were antsy to just get our run on. They had a short 3 mile course set up and even had mile markers. It was kind of muggy and I didn't have a particularly great run, but I was excited to hang out and eat snacks!!! There was plenty of food from Shut Up and Eat PDX: green salad, pesto pasta salad, a bunch of different kinds of sandwiches, and cookies. It was all very delicious, and there was also a nice variety of beer and wine as well. People hung out and chatted, and there was a raffle for lots of fun prizes (Fandango movie tickets, Fit Right gift cards) and it was a great time! I thought there was a really great turn out (and I'm always happy to see tons of my running friends!!)
Fit Right has lots of events coming up at both locations (Portland and Vancouver)! Click here for a list of FR events on Facebook :) This event was totally free to attend, and it's awesome that Fit Right hosts these events for the local running community.
