I'm excited to be running Hood to Coast for the fourth time this year. I'll be running with a few of my Solemates sistahs! WOO HOO!!! Another bit of news: belVita Breakfast Biscuits, crunchy biscuits that provide steady energy all morning long, has partnered with Runner’s World to sponsor Hood to Coast, which is THIS WEEKEND!!! belVita will be handing out samples during the HTC weekend, so keep your eyes peeled. If you've never had belVita before, they're a nice on-the-go breakfast option, especially with a little container of Greek yogurt and some fruit.
─ Carefully baked to provide nutritious steady energy all morning long
─ 18-20g of delicious whole grain per serving
─ Good source of fiber (3g per serving)
─ Part of a balanced breakfast with fruit and low-fat dairy
─ Available in the cookie/cracker aisle at retailers nationwide for $3.69
─ Available in five flavors—Blueberry, Golden Oat, Cinnamon Brown Sugar, Chocolate, and Apple Cinnamon
In celebration of the HTC-belVita partnership, belVita is doing a #MorningWin Running Bundle giveaway for one fabulous Lipgloss+Spandex reader! This Running Bundle includes:
─ belVita branded backpack
─ Variety of crunchy belVita Breakfast Biscuits
─ Headphones
─ Sunscreen
─ Socks
─ Workout towel
─ Headband
belVita was nice enough to send me a Running Bundle too, and let me tell you, it's AWESOME! :) All of these items are awesome to have if you're a runner (you can never have too many pairs of headphones, or socks for sure!) I received one box of Blueberry biscuits and one box of Cinnamon Brown Sugar biscuits. I like that they're not super sweet, they have a nice texture, and they have plenty of fiber. One pouch of four biscuits is 230 calories. I'm not much of a dried blueberry fan, but I really like the Cinnamon Brown Sugar ones! I have eaten them prior to my morning, and didn't have any problems digesting them (but every body is different).
I definitely believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day--even if I don't always do it, I know I should! Whether I'm at the office during the week, or doing a race on the weekend, I feel my best mentally and physically when I start my body off with some legit FUEL! I had great runs this weekend, on both Saturday at the Clackamas County Fair 5k (3rd female finisher and 11th overall!) and on Sunday at the Solemates group run at Lacamas Lake (ran 8.25 mi at a decent pace!).
