Best Blush
MAC Powder Blush in The Perfect Cheek (Limited Edition) $22.00 for 0.21 oz I love this blush. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. This matte neutral pink beige looks especially good on medium skin tones (although it's a pretty universally flattering shade, IMO). It's a nice basic color that goes well with any look! I reach for it all the time. It's nicely pigmented, smooth, and it's easy to apply. This fabulous limited edition blush is still in stock on MAC's website, but once it's gone, there are a few similar blushes--try MAC Blushbaby, Pink Cult, or Have a Lovely Day. |
Best Lipgloss
Laura Mercier Lip Lacquer in Laque Rouge (Limited Edition) $24.00 for 0.15 oz I love this classic shade of red! The formula is dreamy--smooth, highly pigmented, shiny, and decently long wearing (a few hours). It feels comfortable and moisturizing on my lips, and isn't sticky or too slick either. And I LOVE how evenly it applies with the doe foot applicator. *swoon* Paired with the Laura Mercier lip pencil in True Red, my lips looked fabulous during my company's holiday party with just a few touch ups. I've found myself reaching for this gloss over and over since it arrived. And iff Laura Mercier can get my chickenbutt to wear a red lip, it's practically a miracle. |
Best Eyeshadow
Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye color in Gilded Moonlight (Limited Edition) $24.00 for 0.09 oz This looks so pretty in the compact, I *honestly* feel bad using it! It's a gorgeous gold that can be worn sheer as a browbone highlight or built up on the lid for more glam. It has a unique, smooth texture (not quite like a pressed powder, the closest product comparison I can come up with is MAC's Extra Dimension eye shadows). It has great length of wear. The compact is good quality, and the mirror inside is a nice touch. It might be the prettiest gold I've ever tried. Snatch up this limited edition shadow before it's gone! |
Best Skin Care Product
First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser $18.00 for 5.0 oz This "mild" cleanser gets the job done! It thoroughly cleans my skin without overdrying it. I have VERY oily and VERY acne prone skin, but this really helped balance out my skin and reduced breakouts, especially when combined with a little baking soda. While the price tag seemed a bit high, a pea sized amount will get your face clean, so one tube lasted me MONTHS (a good value when it comes to $$/day). And what impressed me is that gals with combo or dry skin loved it too! HG worthy for sure. My original "review" is in the comments on We Heart This. |
