So a couple of months ago I decided that if I got to the lower end of my "goal weight" range, I could make myself delicious s'mores bars that I've seen on Pinterest. I've been obsessing over them the moment I saw them, because it's TWO TREATS IN ONE!!! But I figured this should be a one time treat, so I made it my reward for getting back in shape.
Here are the delicious treats that inspired me (click to go to the link on Pinterest):

But I wanted something that was JUST chocolate chip cookie dough and s'mores ingredients, and I wanted it in a bar form. And I didn't want to make anything from scratch--I'm a terrible cook and an awful baker. I'm no Martha Stewart. My cooking style is a little more Honey Boo Boo sketti, if you catch my drift.
So I decided to combine the desired aspects from each of the recipes to make my own version, a version that only involved buying products (cookie dough, graham crackers, mini chocolate chips, marshmallow creme fluff, and more cookie dough), slapping em together, and then baking. I didn't do a whole lot of pre-planning (bad idea). As a result, the cookie dough didn't get very cooked...
So I cut myself a 1/8 sized portion. The whole dish is about 5000 calories, so my piece was like 650 calories. And I could barely finish it. OMG SO SWEET AND SUGARY.
Yeah. It is totally overkill. I probably could have done with just one layer of cookie dough, one layer of graham crackers, and some mini marshmallows. Maybe something like THIS recipe. It didn't seem decadent enough when I was trying to decide what to make, but I think it would have totally been delicious. And it would have been fewer calories and easier to make.
Readers, have you had a misadventure in the kitchen recently? Do you use Pinterest to find recipes?
